OUR MISSION

The Michigan Investment Banking Club (“MIBC”) is an undergraduate student organization at the University of Michigan. Our goal is to prepare our members for a career in investment banking and to help our members secure competitive internships or full-time Analyst positions.

We employ a three-prong strategy to accomplish our goals:

Our educational lecture series are led by senior members of MIBC and are designed to provide an introduction to the key concepts and skill-sets relevant to investment banking. Concepts that are covered in our series may include financial accounting, corporate finance and valuation, and financial modeling. We pair our educational series with internal DCF and M&A Case Competitions. This is offered to all members of MIBC.

Our investment banking internship program is a year-round internship with a boutique investment banking advisory firm that is an exclusive partner with MIBC. Members gain real-world experience throughout the school year and can expect to work on M&A advisory and debt/equity private placement assignments for companies in a broad range of industries. This is offered to select members of MIBC.

We also offer career guidance and support, which involves cover letter and resume review, structured interview preparation (first rounds & superday - both technical & behavioral), and private mentorship by senior members and alumni of MIBC. This is offered to all members of MIBC.

OUR STORY

The Michigan Investment Banking Club was founded in 2007 by Jae Chung (LSA '10) and Anthony Chen (Ross '11). MIBC was initially formed as an unofficial and unregistered organization that organized collective learning communities for students interested in investment banking.

In 2008, MIBC was officially registered as a student organization with the mission of preparing our members for careers in investment banking. The Founding Members that joined MIBC at its inception are James Hadel (Ross '12), Jyo Sinha (Ross and Engineering '12), and Yunni Xiao (LSA '12).

Just over a decade later, MIBC has 100+ alumni working in various roles across Wall St. and beyond. MIBC members prove to be successful both in short and long term career trajectories. Given our robust educational series, internship opportunity, and professional development training - we strive to attain a 100% placement rate in IB roles every year. A training ground in investment banking allows future alumni to branch out and create their own businesses or rise to the top in prestigious buy- and sell-side roles in financial services.
